Chateau Fleur Cardinale 2016

75cl / 14.5%

Beautiful fruity intensity. The tannins appear slowly and present a very fine grain. They are in symbiosis with the structure which confers freshness and vigor. A great success with promising potential. Best from 2022 up to 2051.

History of Château Fleur Cardinale

The estate owes its current name, Château Fleur Cardinale, to Jean-Louis Obissier, son of the mayor of Villerouge-Termenes who purchased Clos Bel-Air in 1975. It is said that the Obissier family owned race horses at the time, by the names of Fleur and Cardinale. After the death of his race horses, Mr. Obissier changed the name of the estate to Château Fleur Cardinale.

In May 2001, Dominique Decoster and his wife Florence decided to buy Château Fleur Cardinale from the Asséo family who had owned the estate since 1982. The family was drawn to the quality of life here and the welcome they received from those in the wine trade. To succeed in this new project, they felt it would be best to live on the estate, so they decided to take up permanent residence at Château Fleur Cardinale along with their three children.

Château Fleur Cardinale is located on the northern rim of a clay-limestone plateau. There are precisely 7 different types of soil and subsoil. The majority of these soils are exactly the same in terms of soil classification as those found in the very heart of Saint-Émilion village. The average age of the vines at Château Fleur Cardinale is 40 years and the grape varieties consist of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
