Tasting Notes

Colour: Amber hue with green and orange tints. Fine, even and lively sparkle.
Nose: Complex and intense bouquet disclosing candied citrus, yellow fruit, Williams pear, pollen and toasted almond. The delicately seductive bouquet shows intensity and well-honed precision.
Palate: The wine is powerful, full yet tight, on entry to the palate. The 2008 is undeniably well structured but in a particular way: the wine’s almost saline concentration has not been created by the sun, but is derived from the dryness of the chalk soil in a particularly cool summer. The result is a smooth, almost liquorice, mouthfeel that coats the palate with a powerful yet soft texture. This gives way to an incredible finish, underpinned by freshness and an impression of absolute purity with a taut and very saline character.

History of Louis Roederer

The Louis Roederer champagne house in Reims, France has been creating wines for over two centuries. Till today is is one of a few independent and family-run maisons de champagne. The crafting of a fine champagne requires a slow rhythm, patience and restraint. Time is the ultimate luxury. The time to reflect, mature and question. The time to patiently blend components, the time to go back and start again, to choose a better path, the time to share experience and work together towards the creation of outstanding champagnes from unique terroirs, worked with respect, passion and humility.

“We are not artists. At Maison Louis Roederer, the great artist is Nature and each year we are the interpreters of what she wants to give us. Our job is to take part in this choreography between Man and Nature in order to reveal the great Champagne terroirs.” — Frédéric Rouzaud, CEO
