Stag's Leap Artemis Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

75cl / 14.5%

“Always a solid value in Napa Cabernet, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Artemis has a varietal nose of darker currants and subtle blue fruits as well as green tobacco, lead pencil shavings, chocolate, and cedarwood.

This carries to a medium-bodied, nicely textured, elegant 2018 that offers the vintage’s fresher, more elegant texture, present tannins, and plenty of length on the finish.

It’s not for those craving blockbuster wines, but it has elegance and charm. It should benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and keep for 10-12.”

History of Stag’s Leap Winery

Stags’ Leap Winery is located seven miles (11km) north of Napa town in the the now famed Stag’s Leap District AVA in Napa Valley. It is situated on a large estate with 36 hectares (90 acres) under vine. Considered one of the “first growths” of Napa Valley, grapes have been continuously grown on the lands of Stags’ Leap since the 1880s. The property itself was founded in 1893 and by 1920 the manor house was built and named Stags’ Leap.

Stags’ Leap is best known for its Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah, as well as Chardonnay and Viognier. A rosé is also produced from a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Within the portfolio are varietal and blended expressions as well as single-vineyard and single-barrel selection wines. The winery brought international recognition to California winemaking and the Napa Valley region when their 1973 S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon won the 1976 Paris Tasting, also known as the “Judgement of Paris”.
