These wines are intriguing, distinct and true to the unique parcel of dirt that inspired their creation, while remaining rooted firmly in the heart of the Barossa.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Deep dark red
Aroma: Expressive, alluring and elegant, dark cherry and red fruits meld with herbs, wild flowers, sandalwood and gravelly notes.
Palate: The palate is mid-weight but filled with juiciness and suppleness supported by beautifully sculpted silky and ripe tannins. This is an elegant, yet very well structured wine. A wine to keep for the next 10+ years or enjoy now with medium rare rib eye, provencale butter, crisp onion rings and rocket, basil and flat-leaf parsley greens.
Grape Varieties: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Shiraz
Aging: Matured for 17 months in 32% new French oak barriques, Hungarian and French oak hogsheads, balance in 1 year and older French oak barriques, Hungarian and French oak hogsheads.

History of Yalumba

Yalumba was founded in 1849 by Samuel Smith, British migrant and English brewer. Samuel named his patch “Yalumba”- aboriginal for “all the land around”. Five generations and 160 years later Yalumba, Australia’s oldest family owned winery, has grown in size and stature, embodying all that has made the Australian wine success story the envy of winemakers the world over.
