About the Bodegas Roda Cirsion 2017 Magnum 1.5L

Tasting Notes

Colour: Very intense, enormous depth and almost impenetrable. Red flashes with icing tones are projected from the background.
Nose: Very complex, formed by a thousand layers almost indecipherable, but all exciting. There is a light smoked veil, a slight aromatic smoke of the best oak and the finest spices. Blackness in fruits with redness glows. Wet land and rain on the earth. Ripe fruits return in full splendor. A box with fresh spices, cocoa, tobacco and a landscape of violets in the background. Enigmatic: smoke, moist earth. Small black fruits and some red, even flowers.
Palate: Red fruits with very fresh red sparkles. Amazing tannin in such a young wine. Intensity and delicacy, endless freshness, silky and alive, full and caressing. Cocoa is seasoned with a delicate black fruit liqueur and notes of pink pepper. Great vintage of Cirsion, undoubtedly among the best.
Grape Varieties: 89% Tempranillo and 11% Graciano
Aging: 8 months in 100% brand new French oak barrels

History of Bodegas Roda

Bodegas Roda as founded in 1987 and its facilities have been adapted to the needs of each time and the pace of development, growing structurally in four phases developed in 1991, 1996, 2000 and 2018. Carmen Daurella and Mario Rotllant arrived in La Rioja with the firm intention of creating a project able to provide the world of winemaking with something new. All have been carried out according to the challenges of each time, the 2018 – which has just been concluded- had an energy objective in line with to the 21st century: optimizing energy efficiency and using renewable energies.

Bodegas Roda is located in the edge of the river Ebro, in a balcony of the Railway Station District (Barrio de la Estación) in Haro, La Rioja, over a XIX century “calado”. The vine growers used to use it to stock their harvests, that would be, subsequently, sent to Bordeaux by train to mitigate the damages caused by phylloxera.
