Chateau Tour de Pressac 2016 Magnum 1.5L

150cl / 14.5%

“Small quantities of Carmenère and Malbec add a touch of spice and tannin to this densely rich wine.

With acidity, black fruits and a firm core of tannins, the wine is well structured. A hint of pepper shows through, a sign of the high alcohol.

Drink from 2023.”

The 2016 vintage is one of the finest ever produced. Flowering occurred later than usual. Despite the hot, dry summer, véraison (colour change) was also delayed. The harvest began early October under clear blue skies.

History of Chateau de Pressac

Château de Pressac is a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru classé located just south of Saint-Étienne de Lisse, situated just east of the medieval town of Saint-Émilion.

The wine castle that was erected during the Middle Ages has a significant history in double meaning.

This is where the French beat the English in 1453 in Castillon-la-Bataille which ended the 100 years’ war. In the mid-18th century, it was the owners at that time who planted for the first time in Bordeaux “l’Auxerrois” from Quercy or “Noir de Pressac” as it was called, or “Malbec” as the grape variety is called today.

The Château Pressac Estate covers 42 hectares of one-piece land, of which 36 hectares of vineyards. Dominique and Jean-François Quenin have been owners since 1997.
