Tasting Notes
Colour: Clear and brilliant, with an intense yellow colour and golden highlights.
Nose: Aromas typical of Sauvignon Blanc (lemon and blackcurrant buds) dominate on the nose, accompanied by notes of white flowers and orange blossom imparted by Muscadelle.
Palate: Tropical fruit and citrus flavours come to the fore on the palate. Notes of lemon and grapefruit emerge, mingled with nuances of fleshy white fruit such as pear and lychee. Delicious, round, attractive and fruity on the palate. The rich and concentrated texture is underpinned by a thirst-quenching minerality. The incredibly long aftertaste showcases the complexity of this wine, with ripe fruit flavours balanced out by a lovely vivaciousness. All in all, a gourmet, refined wine with a great deal of tension and elegance.
Grape Varieties: 49% Sauvignon Blanc, 37% Sémillon, 14% Muscadelle
History of Clarendelle
In 1934, Clarence Dillon discovered the opportunity of a lifetime in Chateau Haut-Brion – a tarnished but elegant and fabled estate that had struggled with high maintenance costs and meager returns. He entered into negotiations to acquire the estate and upon receiving a telegram while on a ship to the United States, he quickly responded “”Act Fast!”” This began a long family commitment to the estate and the wines of Bordeaux. The creation of Clarendelle, a brand from Clarence Dillon Wines, honors this ancestor and aims to extract the best from the region’s potential and knowledge, producing wines representative of their heritage and provenance.
Clarendelle’s name thus pays homage to the ancestor who brought the family to this region. In creating Clarendelle the team from Clarence Dillon Wines and their colleagues at Domaine Clarence Dillon, wish to discover and extract the best from the enormous potential and savoir-faire that this region and terroir provide.
