Tasting Notes
Colour: Cherry red
Nose: Reveals aromas of red fruits on the nose.
Palate: Displays power and balance right from the attack. Its fruitiness is dominated by gooseberry, with a spicy hint. A harmonious wine with melted tannins. Goes well with roasted poultry, red meats, game, pizza, grilled meats, fried squid, grilled sardines, charcuterie, tripe products, tabbouleh, couscous, pot au fire and any kind of cheese
Grape Varieties: 100% Pinot Noir
Aging: Manual harvest, the grapes are destemmed, then macerate for about 8 days. The fermentation takes place during maceration, the grapes are then pressed.
History of Horcher Family Estate
Located in the heart of Alsace between Riquewihr and Colmar, the Horcher family estate finds its passion in the vineyard and wine.
For four generations, wines have been produced with respect for the unique characteristics of the terroir. The vines are carefully tended to produce authentic wines. Each generation has worked to continue the tradition and create wines meant to be enjoyed in moments of pure pleasure.
The vineyard extends over six communes: Mittelwihr, Bennwihr, Riquewihr, Beblenheim, Ammerschwihr and Colmar. The property consists of more than 70 plots, due to the diverse soil types including calcareous, clay, marl, granite, and schist. These variations allow for a diverse range of wines with intense aromas.
Nature is respected through sustainable cultivation methods. Yields are controlled and the unique characteristics of the terroir are respected, contributing to the high quality of the wines. Soil health is maintained by alternating plowing with natural grassing, and manual labor is utilized to minimize the use of machinery in the vineyard. The grape variety is carefully chosen according to the terroir to ensure optimal quality and flavor in each plot.
