History of Jacopo Biondi Santi Castello di Montepo
Jacopo Biondi Santi represents the sixth generation of a pioneering family of winemakers. Assisted by his children Tancredi, Clemente and Clio, he runs the estate of Castello di Montepò with all the enterprising spirit of his ancestors. The Biondi Santi family roots go back to the 1800s, when Ferruccio Biondi Santi planted the first Montalcino vineyard with vines of a selected Sangiovese clone, called Sangiovese Grosso or Brunello: it was the first step towards a new way of making wine that would soon become an international success. The Castello di Montepò represents one of the oldest and most important historical sites in the area, which was also recognised by its unmistakably Tuscan charm. The Jacopo Biondi Santi winery is a producer that, every year, releases several red wines of the highest level, which are the result of the high winemaking potential of the Maremma area. Among the different wines, the “Sassoalloro” elegantly interprets the Sangiovese, offering a taste that is both full-bodied and elegant.
