History of Château Mouton Rothschild
Château Mouton Rothschild is one of the most prestigious and well-known wine estates in the Bordeaux region of France. The estate’s origins date back to at least the early 18th century, but it gained significant prominence after being acquired by Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild in 1853. The Rothschild family has been instrumental in shaping the estate’s history and reputation.
Baron Philippe de Rothschild, in particular, played a crucial role in modernizing the winery and elevating its status. Since 1945, each vintage of Château Mouton Rothschild has featured a unique label created by a famous artist, including Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, and Andy Warhol. This tradition adds an artistic and collectible dimension to the wine.
