To this day Speyburn remains the only distillery to draw its water from the Granty Burn, a major tributary of the River Spey. Here, in the secluded, tree-lined valley, this golden liquid rests in hand-selected American oak ex-bourbon cask, breathing in the natural elements of this outstanding region. The resulting whisky is as mellow as its surroundings.

History of Speyburn
Nestled in the heart of Scotland’s renowned Speyside region, Speyburn Distillery has been crafting exceptional single malt whisky since 1897. Founded by John Hopkins, the distillery was established with a vision of creating a whisky that captures the essence of Speyside’s natural beauty— crisp, pure, and full of character.
Speyburn’s first whisky was distilled in the same year as Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee, a milestone that set the tone for the brand’s legacy of excellence. Hopkins chose the Granty Burn, a tributary of the River Spey, as the distillery’s water source—famed for its purity and softness, making it ideal for whisky production. Despite being one of Speyside’s hidden gems, Speyburn has built a reputation for producing whisky that balances tradition with innovation. The distillery continues to use traditional worm tub condensers, a rare technique that enhances the whisky’s depth and richness.
