History of Togouchi – Sakurao
Sakurao Brewery and Distillery Co., Ltd. was founded in 1918 in the town of Sakurao in Hatsukaichi, Hiroshima. For over a hundred years its distillation technique has been passed down through the generations and stories of its long and illustrious history have been shared not only in Hiroshima but also throughout the world. While continuing to respect the traditional techniques cultivated over the years, The Sakurao brewery is embarking on a new endeavor to produce Whiskies and white spirits.
Sakurao Brewery’s whisky casks are used to give a wood finish to its Umeshu. The whisky umeshu uses a plum wine made of Nanko-ume, considered the highest quality Japanese ume, blended with Togouchi whisky.
