History of Vieux Chateau Certan
Vieux Château Certan is a wine estate in the Pomerol appellation on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, known for its rich, deeply colored red wine (usually) based on Merlot. It is consistently rated by judges and the press as one of the very best wines in the world, and achieves correspondingly high prices at auction. Since taking control of Vieux Chateau Certan in the mid-1980s, vigneron Alexandre Thienpont has garnered a reputation of producing some of the most classic, elegant and complex wines in Pomerol, his wines are stunning – they’re usually concentrated and layered, yet easy to drink and are approachable when young.
