You get bright cherry, rose potpourri, black truffle, caramel, butterscotch, sandalwood, road pavement and chalky mineral. In fact, each time I come back to this wine, that mineral element seemed to grow in intensity and scope.

The wine offers a grounded fruit side that is contrasted nicely against a grounded oak component. The mouthfeel is creamy and long, and the wine shows terrific tannic integration. When you come back hours later, you might find black olive, bresaola and licorice.”

Tenuta Nuova was born from an innovative project of a vineyard planted in an area south-east of Montalcino never experienced before and represents the desire to produce a Brunello with great personality: structure, finesse, quantity and quality of tannins, length, drinkability and potential of aging.

The soil, the microclimate, and the botanical realities typical of the Mediterranean scrub that surround the vineyards are the perfect demonstration of the exceptional nature of the Tenuta Nuova terroir. A recognizable wine, awarded by the most important opinion leaders in the world: Wine of the Year for Wine Spectator, 100/100 Robert Parker, 100/100 James Suckling are just the most significant examples.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Youthful deep red.
Aroma: Very intense nose. Hints of red fruit, particularly cherry, are perfectly related to the usual balsamic notes of the Tenuta Nuova.
Palate: Endless at the palate. Rich, deep and full bodied with an extremely pure fruit. Then savory with a bright acidity masterfully melting with vibrant and pawing tannins. The finish let us understand a very long life for this great vintage.

History of Casanova di Neri

Casanova di Neri farm was founded in 1971 by Giovanni Neri following the purchase of an estate in the Montalcino area. Since the founder’s passing in 1991, his son Giacomo has headed the company, managing the vineyards and the cellar himself, now assisted by his sons Giovanni and Gianlorenzo, an example of continuity in the family tradition. Since the beginning, Casanova di Neri’s philosophy has been based on zonation and pursuing the best terroirs to research and enjoy the best vineyards of the Montalcino area in order to produce unique and distinctive wines, with great character.

Today the 75 hectares of vineyards are divided into six distinct areas that originate unique terroirs: Pietradonice south-east of Montalcino, Cetine to the south, Cerretalto to the east, and Fiesoe north-east, this vineyard is located near the winery and homonymous cottage in front of Montalcino, and the Podernuovo which boasts the highest position on the farm, at 480 meters above sea level.

Casanova di Neri produces eight labels. Three are Brunello wines, each with its own characteristics: White Label Brunello, Brunello Tenuta Nuova and Cerretalto Brunello, along with Rosso di Montalcino, Irrosso, Pietradonice, Ibbiano and Irrosè.
