Domaine Serene 'Evenstad Reserve' Pinot Noir 2014

75cl / 14.5%

“There is a darker fruit spectrum evident in the reserve, with notes of coffee, smoke, black fruits, a touch of charred wood all worked through, and without damping the core fruit flavors.

Those bright flavors spotlight raspberry, plum and black cherry. A light cola flavor pokes through, with ripe tannins and proportionate acids.

The barrel treatment is beautifully applied, adding sweet spice to the finish.”

The art of blending has been the hallmark of the Domaine Serene winemaking program for over 30 years. It is this artistry that has made ‘Evenstad Reserve’ our flagship wine and a benchmark for Oregon Pinot Noir since its first vintage in 1990.

The Evenstad Estate is the at the crowning the southernmost peak of the Dundee Hills. The seven vineyards of this estate have multiple exposures and produce some of our most prized wines, including Mark Bradford, Grace, Fleur de Lis, Gold Eagle, Côte Sud, Clos du Soleil and Etoile.

History of Domaine Serene

Domaine Serene is an Oregon winery established in 1989. It makes wines throughout the Willamette Valley, with most vineyards in the Dundee Hills AVA. Much of Serene’s portfolio is based on Pinot Noir, although Chardonnay features prominently as well.

The domaine is made of six estates all up – as well as the sites in the the Dundee Hills, Serene has the Abbey Oaks Vineyard in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, and the Jerusalem Hill Vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA. The gravity-flow winery at the Winery Hills site was completed in 2001 and in 2015, owners Grace and Ken Evenstad also bought Château de la Crée, an estate in Burgundy.

Since its first commercial release in 1990, which received a 90-point score from critic Robert Parker, Domaine Serene has been a significant force in Oregon luxury wine. Fruit is grown on self-rooted vines, and, like the majority of Willamette Valley producers, most of its top wines are made from Pinot Noir. This includes a range of single-vineyard expressions, as well as the flagship Evenstad Reserve.
