FAQs:
How is the Pivot System different from other Coravin Systems?
All Coravin Systems deliver the opportunity for you to enjoy your wine the way you want to versus having to commit to the bottle. The key differences between the Pivot System and other Coravin Systems are how each works and the length of preservation each provides.
With the Pivot System, you open the bottle and replace the original closure with the specially designed Pivot Stopper. The Pivot Device is then inserted through the Stopper to pour. The Pivot System works with any bottle of still wine regardless of closure type. Because the bottle has been opened, wine will remain fresh up to 4 weeks. For most everyday wines, this is plenty of time to finish the bottle, knowing your last glass will taste as fresh as the first. The Pivot System provides best-in-class preservation for under $100. All other Coravin Systems feature a Needle that is inserted through the natural cork, extracting the wine without opening the bottle. Because the bottle remains sealed, the remaining wine is preserved for years, continuing to age in bottle as the winemaker intended. For screw cap wines, these Systems can be used with the Coravin Screw Cap accessory and preserved for three months. These models are perfect for pouring special bottles, tasting bottles as they mature, or expanding your at-home wine-by-the-glass menu without worrying about when you will finish the bottle.
Can the Pivot Stopper be reused?
Once you finish the bottle, remove the Stopper. Clean the Stopper by rinsing it in a steady stream of warm water for several seconds. Shake excess water from the Stopper cap. Dry with a soft cloth. Ensure the Silicone Rings on the Stopper are completely dry before inserting into a new bottle
The Stopper will last for up to 1 year.
Does Argon affect the taste of the wine?
Argon is an inert, non-reactive gas, which means it does not engage with the wine or its components. Because of this property, argon is used in Coravin’s wine preservation systems to protect still wines from oxidation without altering their taste or aroma. This ensures that each pour maintains the integrity and quality of the wine.

History of Coravin
Greg Lambrecht, the founder and inventor of Coravin, combined his knowledge of medical-grade needles with his passion for wine to develop a unique wine preservation system that allowed him to pour wine without removing the cork. In the late 1990s, he brought his expertise in creating ultra-gentle and exceptionally precise needles for pediatric chemotherapy delivery to his home workshop, where he began working on a device that would change the way he drank wine.
In his years of testing, Greg worked with wine makers and other experts in the wine industry to blind taste their wines using his device. They tested bottles that had been accessed 3 months, 6 months, one year, and three years previously against fresh bottles of the same wines. He continues to test Coravin Systems around the world, even testing a bottle that was 14 years old, accessed with one of his original prototypes. With every blind tasting, the results are clear: wines accessed with the Coravin Wine Preservation System remain as fresh as the day they were bottled, even years later. Today, wine professionals and wine lovers around the world enjoy wine one glass at a time using Coravin Wine Preservation Systems.
