Throughout the Barossa and Coonawarra, carefully selected vines have been recognised for producing exquisite fruit that create Yalumba’s most prestigious and savoured wines. Crafted only when all elements of viticulture and winemaking come together, Yalumba’s Rare & Fine wines are the very best examples of the varieties and blends that have found a natural home here in Australia over five generations of winemaking.
Colour: Deep ruby
Aroma: Exhibits savoury notes of red currants followed by dried herb aromatics, leading into almost sweet and sour plums.
Palate: A medium to full bodied brooding wine, that truly reflects the intriguing 2014 vintage. The palate depth is all Barossa Valley, with a dark bitter chocolate roundness and medium to full depth of ironstone tannins through to the finish. Will continue to improve in the cellar for 15 years. Double decant and enjoy alongside a beef or mushroom wellington with roasted root vegetables.
Grape Varieties: 100% Shiraz
Aging: Matured for 20 months in 38% new French and American oak octaves, 19% in 1 year old French barriques and hogsheads, balance in older French barriques, hogsheads and octaves.
